For
the past nine years, Ms. Kelley has represented an array of clients in areas
ranging from civil rights and employment law to government contracts and
corporate formation. She combines her law practice with the teaching of law
classes at her undergraduate alma
mater, the University of California at Irvine. Her courses to date include
"Civil Rights: Race, Gender and the Law," "Introduction to
Law," and "Law at the Millennium." In May 2001, she received an
award from the UC Irvine Committee on Teaching for excellence in teaching. Ms.
Kelley frequently volunteers her time in the legal community for such
organizations as the California Women's Law Center, the Harriet Buhai Center for
Family Law and the Orange County Bar Association. She has also served as an
arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Below
are examples of the types of matters Ms. Kelley has handled:

the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority in
a federal civil rights case of nationwide import, Labor/Community Strategy Center
v. MTA, seeking injunctive relief under Title VI
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

defended an employer in a federal court suit alleging
discrimination based on sexual orientation

represented
companies in multi-million dollar disputes with the
United States government, involving statutes such as the
False Claims Act, Contract Disputes Act, and Truth in
Negotiations Act

conducted
factual and legal investigations into potential civil
and criminal liability for major government contractors

advised
start-up internet company on a variety of legal issues

written
a successful appellate brief raising novel issue of
civil remedies available to redress fraud in negotiation
of marital settlements
Ms.
Kelley is a member of the Orange County and Los Angeles County Bar Associations
as well as Women in Business Orange County and the Irvine Chamber of Commerce.
